First, I welcome our new Neuroscience News forum members. Thank you for joining. I'm looking forward to many more users and look forward to reading all posts. If you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Next, I would like to explain why we have fewer members now. A problem that has arisen due to links being so important to search engine positioning is forum spamming. This usually is delivered by automated software, aka bots, and can be quite problematic as many may have noticed in many forums on the net. These bots usually sign up and then leave a link to a webpage in hopes that a search engine bot will follow that link and improve the search engine ranking for that page. This led to a lot of really horrible links to horrible pages unrelated to our forum here. Because of this, I went through and deleted and banned numerous accounts and IPs from our forum.
To avoid being banned, just be sure to never link to a questionable website in your profile. We would prefer to only see websites related to neuroscience or related scientific topics. If you get banned, but think it was unjustified, please send an email to forum at neuroscience news.com and I'll be happy to reinstate membership to the forum.
I'm also attempting to keep more up to date with the memberships, so hopefully our neuroscience forum will start to get more respectable content soon from our new members.
Thank you.
Dr. D.
